CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A woman was killed in an accident on Interstate 77 near the state line, Charlotte Fire Department officials said.
Investigators said 51-year-old Cathey Bazen’s car flipped several times in the southbound lanes of I-77, just south of Charlotte, around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Eyewitness News spoke with Bazen’s husband who said she was heading to Columbia to help their daughter.
Troopers said she changed lanes, hit another car, and then crossed all lanes before hitting the median and overturning.
The road was closed for several hours while troopers investigated but was back open by 1 a.m.
