Changes to high school football schedules

Due to possible severe weather, six Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools high school football games have been moved from Friday to Thursday.

Two games will be played as scheduled on Friday. All games will kick off at 7 p.m.

Several other districts are also rescheduling games.

Thursday - 7 p.m. kick off

  • Hickory at South Caldwell (7:30 p.m.)
  • Hopewell at North Mecklenburg
  • East Rutherford at Shelby (7:30 p.m.)
  • Mallard Creek at Hough
  • West Charlotte at Vance
  • West Mecklenburg at South Mecklenburg
  • Harding at Ardrey Kell
  • Catholic at Olympic (double header: JV kick-off at 4:30 p.m. and varsity kick off at 7 p.m.)

Friday – 7 p.m. kick off

  • Berry @ Providence
  • East Mecklenburg @ Rocky River

Other high school football games are being rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew.

  • Union County games are rescheduled to Thursday
  • Clover High vs. Fort Mill moved to Thursday

  • JV football: South Caldwell at Hickory will be moved to Monday at 7 p.m.

A state swim championship and several York and Chester county football games have been postponed due to the looming arrival of Hurricane Matthew, The Herald reported.

The state swimming championships set for this weekend in Columbia have been postponed to the weekend of Oct. 14-15.

These football games have been moved up to Thursday:

▪  Nation Ford at Rock Hill, 7:30 p.m.

▪  Richmond Senior High School Varsity game, 7:30 p.m. The Ninth Grade Academy's home game will still be played Thursday at 4 p.m.

These football games have been moved to Monday:

▪  Columbia at Chester, 7:30 p.m.

▪  Lamar at Lewisville, 7:30 p.m.

▪  The Richmond Senior High School JV Game in Raeford

These games have been postponed and will not be played this week. Makeup dates are not yet determined:

▪  Lancaster at Richland Northeast.

▪  York at Ridge View.

▪  Westwood at South Pointe.
