CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation sent its donors a letter this week saying the former principal of Charlotte Catholic used its money for himself.
This letter outlines the results of an investigation into the foundation's funds, conducted by an outside accountant.
It stated a significant number of unauthorized transactions were made by two former employees.
It names one as Jerry Healy, the former principal.
The letter stated, "He admitted making personal use of funds held by the foundation."
Specifically, the foundation's president told Channel 9 that Healy spent more than $47,000 for personal use and signed more than $40,000 worth in checks to families who didn't have kids at the school.
Healy resigned as principal less than a month ago.
Channel 9 has been covering this investigation since leaders called in an independent auditing firm to review the school's bank accounts.
