Charlotte city council members meet with community about safety

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council members Greg Phipps and Julie Eiselt spoke with residents Thursday night at Elevation Church on IBM Drive about community safety.

They discussed crime trends and summer initiatives by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, along with crime prevention tips.

"As we approach the eve of the 33rd National Night Out festivities next Tuesday to show support and appreciation for our first responders, town hall attendees will learn about law enforcement strategies to keep our communities safe", Council member Phipps said. "As is the case for many large cities across the nation, crime is on the rise here in Charlotte.”
