CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are trying to figure out who robbed and shot a man Tuesday morning in the parking lot of a south Charlotte grocery store.
Officers responded at about 5:40 a.m. to the ALDI parking lot in the 5500 block of Old Pineville Road.
He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said.
Officials said early information in the investigation indicates that the shooting is robbery related.
Employees at nearby businesses are on high alert.
"You have to be buzzed to enter in our building," employee Mandy Colliver said. She did not want to identify the business she works for.
Tuesday’s shooting was just down the street from a murder on Easter Sunday. Investigators found a man’s body behind a building on Chastain Avenue.
Police have not yet released that victim’s name.
Neighbors told Channel 9 they're worried more crime is coming to the area.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
