Charlotte man sentenced in fatal Brookshire Boulevard crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wednesday a judge sentenced Steven Johnson to six to eight years in prison. In February, Eyewitness News showed you pictures from the wreck on Brookshire Boulevard and Interstate 85.

Police said Johnson was impaired and speeding when he crashed into an SUV driven by Les Dahm.  Dahm died in the crash. Last week, Johnson pleaded guilty to felony death by vehicle .

Wednesday Eyewitness News spoke with Johnson’s attorney.

“He feels very, very bad about it.  This is something he would never would have envisioned happening,” said Bill Powers.

The judge also ordered Johnson to pay more than $2,000 to the victim’s wife.  We were told the money would pay her back for funeral expenses.
