CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mayor Jennifer Roberts is lashing out at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
The mayor said ICE has brought fear and chaos into the Charlotte community and she called on agents to not conduct activities near schools and churches.
She said she supports lifting the ban on refugees and no one should be deported for a broken taillight.
"I urge our city to continue to celebrate, protect and defend immigrants communities and their families,” Roberts said.
The mayor said Charlotte-Mecklenburg police will work with federal agents to keep violent criminals out of the city.
