CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hundreds of pets at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control shelter are in need of homes.

“If you've ever thought that you're ready to make that commitment and bring an animal into your home, for a forever home for the pet, then please come and see us, because now's a really good time to adopt,” said Melissa Knicely, with Animal Care and Control.

The shelter started its holiday promotion, which means all adoption fees are waived if you make a donation to support shelter programs.

The promotion lasts through December.
