Charlotte Relay for Life has goal to raise $130K in fight for cancer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hundreds of people walked in uptown Charlotte on Saturday to raise awareness and money in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life was held at First Ward Park with Channel 9’s Scott Wickersham serving as the emcee.

The theme was “When heroes team up,” and several superheroes attended.

This year’s fundraising goal was $130,000.

“Fighting is all about your mindset,” cancer survivor Saundra Durham said. “We really appreciate everybody coming out and letting us know that when we fight, we don't fight alone.”

The proceeds go to things including breakthrough therapies and awareness raising
