Charlotte 16-year-old shot to death in front yard

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the murder of a 16-year-old in the 2400 block of Carmine Street just after midnight Saturday morning.

Detectives said they got a call about a shooting and found Jarquavise Demonta White shot in his front yard.  He was taken to the Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

White's family told investigators he stepped outside and they heard gunshots a short time later.

Homicide detectives are canvassing the neighborhood looking for witnesses.
