CONCORD, N.C. — A chase led to a crash Sunday afternoon on a busy highway in Concord, troopers say.
The Highway Patrol said the chase started in the Locust area, and then the vehicle drove off Highway 601 at Miami Church Road.

The vehicle slammed into a telephone pole, causing it to snap in two and crash down. The driver ran from the scene, but officers took a man into custody a short time later. The suspect's name has not been released.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office said a female was also taken into custody but didn't release her name.
Channel 9 has contacted the Locust Police Department to find out why the chase started.
