Chicken truck crash closes Stanly Co. highway

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A highway in Stanly County was shut down early Friday morning after a truck carrying thousands of chickens overturned.

Police said the driver of the chicken truck lost control and crashed on Highway 205 near Buster Road, just outside Oakboro around 3:15 a.m.

The driver was not hurt but more than 3,300 live chickens in cages were spilled across the roadway.

Crews were able to clean up the accident scene and reopened the roadway around 8 a.m.
