GASTONIA, N.C. — Two men forced their way into a Gastonia man's house and shot his dog during a robbery, police said.
The Chihuahua named Sassy was shot to death seconds after the men forced their way into the home on Bickett Avenue Wednesday night.
Three shots were fired in the living room.
"Why would anybody want to hurt an innocent dog?” the resident’s girlfriend Tammy Mayne said. “It's a dog. It (did) nothing to them."
Police charged Michael McGugan with the robbery and they are still looking for the gunman.
