2-year old dies after dad accidently backs vehicle over him

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 2-year-old boy was hit and killed by his father's truck near Wallace Road on Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

The boy's father was backing out of his driveway, and didn't know the child was behind him.

Impairment and speed are not factors in this incident, police said.  No charges have been filed at this time.

Police called this a tragic accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
