CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Chiquita Brands' first quarter earnings did not meet expectations.
The company reported a net loss of $25 million in the first quarter of 2014.
This comes on the heels of the company posting a 2013 fourth quarter loss of $31 million in February.
Chiquita blames droughts in Central America and winter storms in the U.S. for affecting crops.
Chiquita recently announced plans to merge with an Irish company and pull its headquarters out of uptown Charlotte.
