Church to paint rainbow on doors after pro-LGBT sign vandalized

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Members of a south Charlotte church want to erase the words that vandals scrawled on a church sign supporting the LGBT community.

The Wedgewood Church will hold an event at 4 p.m. Saturday for the community to paint a rainbow on the church's front doors.

Someone spray painted an offensive phrase on a sign that promoted LGBT members Thursday.

Church officials said it's the second time in eight years it has been vandalized.

The church, located at 4800 Wedgewood Drive, will hold a worship service as well.
