CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is participating in the statewide "Click it or Ticket" campaign.
The goal of the two-week campaign is to increase our local passenger belt usage from 87 percent to more than 90 percent.
On Wednesday morning, a seatbelt operation was conduct near Milton Road at The Plaza.
Police gave out 159 citations including 64 for seat belts, nine for child seats, six for driving while license revoked, eight for no license and 44 for registration and inspection. Twenty-eight citations were for other reasons.
