CMPD investigates south Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE —

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is interviewing someone after a homicide in south Charlotte.

Police responded to the 800 block of High Meadow Lane around 3:30 a.m. They found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died.

Police say the victim was Gary Lane, 36.

Detectives said Lane and subject being interviewed knew each other and had an altercation that led to the shooting. According to police, the detained subject is cooperating with detectives.

Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Real Time Crime Center, and the Vice and Gang Unit are all involved in the investigation.
