The fourth shooting call came in just after 1 a.m. Police found a person suffering from a gunshot wound on Esmerelda Drive, off Statesville Road, north of Cindy Lane.

The woman who lives in the house told Channel 9 police counted 61 shots.

She said she and her 71-year-old mother were in bed when the shooting happened and didn’t see who fired the shots.

"It was like boom, boom, boom boom," the woman, who didn’t want to be identified, said. "Senseless, senseless."

The woman said her mother was hit by one of the bullets, which shattered her elbow. She said she is now in the hospital and facing several surgeries.

The woman said her mother was also hit by some bullet fragments when their house was targeted on Sunday morning.

“She was an innocent bystander at home, minding her own business. There in her bed both times, so she was hit Tuesday and she was hit Sunday,” the woman said. "I don't bother nobody. I'm 50 years old. I mind my business. I just want my family to be safe."

Several more bullets hit the house next door, where 18-year-old Angela said she was asleep in bed.

"Brothers and sisters, we were all crying," Angela said.

Two bullets flew into the living room and hit the wall and others went into the bathroom, next to their bedrooms.

Dozens of evidence markers were scattered across the ground as police investigated the scene.

CMPD said they believe the shootings are connected and involve people in an ongoing dispute.

No arrests have been made and detectives have not released any suspect information.
