CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is trying to locate a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run after a pedestrian was injured on the 5200 block of Albemarle Road.
According to police, a female pedestrian was hit by an older-model white Jeep Grand Cherokee while she was crossing the intersection of Albemarle Road and North Sharon Amity Road about 10:30 Saturday night.
Police say the victim was not walking in the crosswalk. The victim was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping, police said. Witnesses who gave CMPD a vehicle description told police the Jeep was heading east on Albemarle Road.
Investigators with CMPD’s Major Crash Unit believe the vehicle should have front-end damage. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
