CMPD investigating west Charlotte homicide, victim identified

CHARLOTTE — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide in West Charlotte.

Officers arrived at the scene of a reported shooting around 4:30 a.m Sunday. They found a man lying in the road suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medic pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Rashad Kareem Porter, 27.

A family member of Porter's told Eyewitness News he saw his cousin lying in the middle of the street.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots and immediately called police. No arrests have been made and CMPD hasn't given a suspect description, but detectives canvassed the area to see if there were any witnesses to the crime.
