CMPD arrest teen in connection with north Charlotte murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a teenager after another teen was shot to death in north Charlotte Tuesday.

Police responded to the shooting on Beatties Ford Road shortly after 2 p.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

That victim, identified as 18-year-old Ajewan Jones, was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police arrested 19-year-old Deshawn McDowell and charged him with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon.
