Police: Driver who hit 2 motorcycles charged with DWI

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said part of South Wendover Road, from Providence Road to Randolph Road, was closed due to a wreck involving a motorcycle. It reopened around 5:30 p.m.

The crash happened around 2:34 p.m. Tuesday at Bonwood Drive and Wendover.

According to a release from CMPD, a 2010 Honda Civic was traveling northeast on S. Wendover Road. Two motorcycles were traveling in the opposite direction. The Civic entered into a curve in the road to the right and crossed the double yellow lane into the opposing lanes.

Both motorcyclists took evasive action and laid their motorcycles down on the sides, sliding on the asphalt. The Honda struck both motorcycles and one of the motorcyclists.

Eric Hudspeth was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The other motorcyclist, Daniel Hagemeyer, was treated on the scene for minor injuries and released.

The Civic's driver, Beverly Boseman, was transported to CMC for minor injuries.

Boseman exhibited signs of impairment when interviewed by detectives at CMC, and was charged with driving while impaired. Detectives also obtained warrants charging her with felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while license revoked and reckless driving.

When she is released from the hospital, CMPD says she will be transported to the Mecklenburg County Intake Center.
