CMPD: No arrests after shootout leaves two vehicles crashed, damaged

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after they said people in two different cars shot at each other overnight before crashing.

Police were called around 2:40 a.m. to 36th Street in north Charlotte in reference to a shots-fired call.

Channel 9 crews saw one car that crashed into a fence at that location. Police said when they got there no one was inside the car.

About two blocks away, at The Plaza and Herrin Avenue, Eyewitness News crews saw a black SUV with its back window shot out.

Detectives at that scene said the vehicle was involved in the shots-fired incident but they were still trying to sort out what happened.

Police said no one was injured and no arrests have been made.
