CMPD searches for man in area business burglaries

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is searching for a man who may be connected to five business break-ins that happened on Monday.

  • The World Famous Open Kitchen: 1318 W. Morehead St. at 8:48 a.m.
  • Gardenia's: 1019 Alleghany St. at 5:36 a.m.
  • Beauregard's: 3030 Freedom Dr. at 12:17 p.m.
  • The Joy Mart: 2210 W. Morehead St. at 7:30 a.m.
  • Pinky's Bar and Grille: 1600 W. Morehead St.

“They got in and went through looking for money, and didn't find anything,” Paul Labrakis of Gardenia’s said. “Made a mess and left.”

The man is white, 28-35 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket over a light-colored hoodie, khaki pants, black boots and a white scarf or T-shirt over his face, police said. He was also wearing one white glove and one black glove.

The burglar was driving a black four-door sedan that could be a 2002-2006 Toyota body-style with the hubcap missing from the front left tire.

The burglar broke glass windows and doors to enter the buildings.
