CMPD: Shots fired at gas station, potential suspects on the loose

CHARLOTTE — According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, shots were fired outside of the Citgo gas station on Oaklawn Avenue and Statesville Road Sunday afternoon.

Police detained three people for questioning but have since released them, saying they were actually the victims in the shooting.

One person was arrested on a separate charge for possession of a stolen firearm.

Officials said it is unclear what prompted the shooting, but no one was hurt.

Police are still looking for the person or persons who fired shots.

A CMPD official said bullets hit a nearby car. The car belonged to a woman who had her son with her. It is unclear if they were inside of the vehicle, but they were uninjured.
