CMPD shuts down illegal parties during CIAA weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police shut down several illegal parties Saturday night.

Channel 9 got exclusive video of officers shutting one down on College and 8th streets in uptown Charlotte hours before it started.

Officials said illegal parties are a problem during CIAA weekend.

Alcohol and Beverage Control said they pulled the permit for the party after they found multiple violations during an inspection.

Lamar Haley said he traveled from Greensboro and paid more than $100 to attend the event.

“I talked to one of the gentlemen out here and he said you need to get in contact with whomever you bought the tickets from,” Haley said.

Officials said they shut down several other illegal parties throughout Charlotte last night, which included parties in the University area, Monroe Road and on North Davidson Street.
