CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mary McCray will be stepping down Tuesday night as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools board chair, and two new board members will be sworn in.
“When you are shaping the future of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, that is really important," McCray said.
She has been on the School Board for eight years.
The School Board elected at-large member Elyse Dashew as chair and District 2 board member Thelma Byers-Bailey as vice-chair.
Dashew said the board has a lot of important work to do, and she's confident the board is willing to make the crucial decisions to help students.
