Police: 1 killed in Wednesday crash in Concord

CONCORD, N.C. — A driver died Wednesday after a crash around 4:24 p.m., according to Concord police officers.
 
The single-vehicle crash was on Clover Road NW near Riverglen Drive NW in Concord.
 
Police said a 2000 Audi SS Quattro was traveling south on Clover Road NW when it ran off the right side of the roadway, hit a sign, crossed over the roadway and ran off the left side of the road. The car hit several trees before coming to a stop.
 
The driver, 53-year-old Nadar Jalayer, of Concord, was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast. There were no passengers in the car.
 
Police said speed was a contributing factor to the crash and the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
 
The wreck is still under investigation.
