Concord PD search for gunman who shot, killed 21-year-old

CONCORD, N.C. — A man was shot several times outside his home in Concord Saturday night, police said.

According to police, neighbors reported hearing gunshots near the corner of Meadowbrook and Cedarbrook lanes around 10:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found Loney Felder V, 21, lying in the road in front of his home with several gunshot wounds.

Felder was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 4:30 a.m.

Channel 9 talked with Felder's fiancée who said she was visiting family out of town when she received a phone call about the shooting.

"I went away for the weekend and told him to be good and be safe and then this happened," she said.

The woman told Channel 9 she doesn't know what led to the shooting but said during their last phone conversation, about four hours before the shooting, Felder said someone had broken into their home and stolen electronics.

"I just want to know who and why," she said.

The woman said she, Felder and her 9-month-old son had just moved into the home several days ago.

"He loved my son and was a great father figure to him," she said.

Police haven't released any further details in the case, including a possible motive or potential suspects.  No arrests have been made.
