Concord power outages causing traffic issues on U.S. 29

CONCORD, N.C. — Police are directing traffic at several intersections Tuesday because of a widespread power outage in Concord.

The outage affecting thousands of customers stretches along Highway 29, which is Concord Parkway from Highway 601 down to the speedway at Bruton Smith Boulevard.

Cabarrus County Schools said the outage only affects Wolf Meadow Elementary. Teachers are still welcoming students and parents have been informed.

Crews are working on the outage but do not know its cause or when power will be restored.
