GEORGIA - Hikers may be able to reach the Gulf of Mexico by staying on the Appalachian Trail.
The trail currently stretches from Maine to north Georgia.
A national conservation group wants to buy land along the Chattahoochee River.
This would give hikers a way to reach the Gulf by kayaking and more trails.
The group said the new route could become a reality within the next decade.
