CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officers with the Transportation Security Administration have seized another gun at a checkpoint at a North Carolina airport.
A news release on Tuesday said a TSA officer spotted the gun, a loaded Ruger LC9 9 MM handgun, as a man's carry-on bag was being examined on the checkpoint x-ray machine at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Monday.
According to the release, the officer immediately contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, whose officers questioned the passenger and cited him for carrying a weapon on airport property.
It's the 63rd firearm detected at Charlotte Douglas this year, compared to 54 in all of 2016.
