CORNELIUS, N.C. — Town leaders in Cornelius discussed options Monday night to break away from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district.

A commission studied five options for months:
- Partner with an existing charter school
- If the town should do nothing and keeps things as it is
- Partner with CMS
- Start a municipal charter school
- Create a separate school district
