Couple accused of tying dead chicken around boy's neck could face foreclosure

MONROE, N.C. — (AP) The North Carolina couple charged with abuse after a boy was found handcuffed to their porch with a dead chicken around his neck now face possible foreclosure proceedings.

Wanda Larson, a former Union County Division of Social Services supervisor, and her boyfriend, Dorian Harper, remain in jail on felony charges. Larson was the 11-year-old boy's guardian when the child was found last year.

That a hearing is now set for Tuesday before a Union County judge concerning a $124,000 note on the couple's house in Monroe.

The newspaper reports that at such hearings, an order is typically sought for foreclosure proceedings to begin and a date for selling the home set. The home, on 5 acres of land, is currently valued at around $200,000.
