NC couple changes wedding plans to make terminally ill son part of ceremony

A North Carolina couple changed their wedding plans so their terminally ill son could be part of the ceremony.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A couple who wanted their month-old son to be there to witness their wedding tied the knot early at his hospice center.

Patricia and Christopher Armstrong’s son, Conner, was born with a rare genetic disorder called Trisomy 18 which causes severe birth defects.

"Basically he has an extra eighteenth chromosome. It has more internal effects," Conner's dad, Christopher, told WFMY. "He has three holes in his heart."

“We were told we didn’t have much time left with Conner,” Christopher said. “So we wanted him to be there.”

Patricia and Christopher got married in a small ceremony at a hospice center in Davidson County, North Carolina, with a few family members, including little Connor, present.

Conner died March 14 at 6 weeks old, just 3 days after the ceremony.

"He was loved by so many and always will," Patricia wrote on Facebook.

The family started a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral expenses. If you would like to donate, click here.
