Family members told Channel 9 that while in the hospital, the couple met the officers who came to their aid the night they were shot.

They said they're grateful for those officers and for the overwhelming support they've received from the community.

Channel 9 has reported on several other crimes in the Plaza Midwood area over the last two months.

In October, police said Ketie Jones was shot and killed while walking home from a bar.

Earlier this month, officers said several suspects robbed two college students at gunpoint.

Both cases remain unsolved.
