CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A car crashed into a power pole Tuesday afternoon in south Charlotte and caused power lines to come down across a busy road.
Crews were called to South Boulevard and Mustang Lane, where the vehicle hit a Duke Energy power pole. Police have not released information on what caused the crash, or if anyone was injured.

Police had to shut down South Boulevard in both directions between Hebron Street and Sharon Road West while crews worked to repair the power pole and get the lines off of the road.
The crash caused hundreds of power outages in the area, including the Carolina Pavilion Shopping Center. Eyewitness News anchor Scott Wickersham was at the shopping center when the lights went off.
