Crash knocks down power pole, blocks busy Gastonia road

GASTONIA, N.C. — Cox Road near the intersection of East Ozark Avenue in Gastonia is closed because of a downed power pole.

Gaston Communications told Channel 9 a driver hit the pole around 2:30 a.m.

At least one person was injured and taken to nearby CaroMont Hospital.

Officials have not released that person's condition or if they’ll face charges.

Channel 9 saw power crews on the scene working to fix the pole and lines, but officials have not said how long the road could be closed.
