CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews responded to a two-alarm fire Thursday at the Lawton Road Distribution Building on Lawton Road near Brookshire Boulevard in northwest Charlotte.
Hazmat crews also arrived at the scene because of the chemicals inside the building.
No flames or smoke were visible from outside of the building.
The area around the plant was evacuated.
It took 46 firefighters 60 minutes to control the fire.
The second alarm was called to relieve firefighters so they could cool down due to the excessive temperatures. Highs reached into the mid-90s Thursday.
No injuries were reported and the incident is under investigation.
