Crowds flock to new uptown venues for fireworks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crowds flocked to uptown to watch the fireworks for the first time on the Fourth of July at Romare Bearden Park and BB&T Stadium in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Knights game at the stadium Friday night was sold out, but a good place to watch the fireworks was at Bearden Park.

This is also the first year the street festival has been held at Bearden Park.

Families took advantage of the Ferris wheel and slides and indulging in the food.

There were also plenty of parking lots surrounding the area to get a good view.
