Demolition begins for Cabela's in Fort Mill

FORT MILL — Demolition crews are taking the first steps to build a new sporting goods store in Fort Mill.

Crews were tearing down the old Plaza Fiesta Mall off Interstate 77 on Saturday afternoon.

A 100,000-square-foot Cabela's Outdoors store is expected to open there in spring 2015, bringing at least 225 jobs with it.

According to the company's website, this will be Cabela's second store in South Carolina. North Carolina does not have a Cabela's yet, but a store will open in Garner in spring 2015.

The Fort Mill store will feature a mountain replica, aquarium, museum-quality wildlife displays, indoor archery range, deli and Bargain Cave. It will also include a full-service boat shop.
