CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Crews started work to demolish the Mallard Creek bridge Thursday night.
Channel 9 cameras were there as crews worked over Interstate 85 in north Mecklenburg County.
The demolition is expected to last through Dec. 4.
That means delays for drivers who head out between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
During the demolition, traffic on northbound I-85 will be detoured to Interstate 485, US 49 and then back to I-85 at Bruton Smith Boulevard.
