Updated:CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. —
Catawba County deputies said a substance abuse counselor is behind bars accused of growing and selling marijuana.
The sheriff’s department said Sidney Deramus had the drugs at his home in Conover.
Deputies served a search warrant and said they found nearly $17,000 worth of marijuana and firearms.
Deramus is a previously convicted felon.
The sheriff said he will face several more felony charges when he appears in court Monday.
