Deputies looking for 2 men in Anson Co. homicide

ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators in Anson County are looking for two men after another man was shot and killed in Wadesboro early Monday morning.

Deputies told Channel 9 that they were called to a home off of Highway 52, near Anson Middle School, just before 1 a.m. where they found 21-year-old Damien Thomas shot and killed.

According to officials, Thomas and his girlfriend were in the home sitting on the couch when two men barged into the house and one of them shot Thomas. He died at the scene.

Deputies said the two men left without taking anything. The girlfriend was not hurt.

"Anyone who comes into someone's house and take their life, you are a coward. He has a mom, dad, sister and brothers and you can just take his life? That was senseless," said Thomas's aunt, Victoria Crowder.

State investigators are helping investigate the shooting and deputies said there is no safety threat to the community. No arrests have been made.
