ROCK HILL, S.C. - York County deputies arrested and charged Ben Patrick Smith, 41, of Charlotte, in connection with the Saturday shooting of a Rock Hill war veteran.
Police were called to the 4400 block of Gentry Lane after reports of a possible home invasion.
They found 69-year-old Wayne Whiteside shot inside his home. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with life-threatening injuries.
Whiteside was listed in good condition Tuesday night.
Whiteside’s sister said two men broke into her brother’s home, tied him up, robbed him and then shot him.
Smith was charged with attempted murder and first-degree burglary.
