UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Three people were in custody after a chase ended Tuesday afternoon in Monroe, officials said.
A chase started in Jefferson, South Carolina, and it ended south of Monroe on Highway 601. Officials said a car was stolen out of Charlotte.
Chesterfield sheriff says they tried to stop a Mercedes stolen out of Charlotte, suspects took off, then ditched the car on 601 in Union Co.

The Chesterfield County sheriff said the driver had eight warrants on him out of Charlotte. No names have been released. Officials said five people were in the car at the time.
