Deputies seek Lincoln County man accused of stabbing his girlfriend

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are seeking a man who they said assaulted his girlfriend with a knife Tuesday in Lincoln County.

Officials said 25-year-old Morgan Michelle Oates, of Denver, went to the Sherrill’s Ford Fire Department in Catawba County Tuesday seeking help for stab wounds in her foot and shoulder.

Oates was then taken to Carolinas HealthCare System facility in Lincoln to be treated for her injuries.

Oates told Catawba County officers that her boyfriend, 30-year-old Wade Wallace Doering II, was the person who stabbed her.

Lincoln County deputies and detectives went to Oates’ home in the 8100 block of Optimist Club Road to find Doering, but he had already left.

Detectives learned that Doering was picked up by an unknown man in a red pickup truck and he is believed to have headed to Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Warrants have been issued charging Doering with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and first-degree kidnapping.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Doering is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202.
