Deputies arrest woman accused of armed robbery of Lancaster store

LANCASTER, S.C. — Deputies have arrested a woman accused of robbing a convenience store in Lancaster Monday night.

Officials with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said 25-year-old Jessica Luann Medlin, of Kershaw County, was taken into custody Tuesday and has been charged with the armed robbery of the Twin Pines Convenience Store and Grill.

Authorities said two deputies were checking a property near the store, located at 1483 Charlotte Highway, when they received the call for the robbery around 9:17 p.m.

Deputies said two employees who were working at the store told them that a white woman walked up to the counter and demanded money.

After taking the money, officials said, the woman left and drove off in a small, metallic-colored four-door sedan.

No one was injured during the robbery, authorities said.

Officials said an investigator went to the scene and viewed surveillance video, which showed the robber wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.

Investigators said they later determined that the robber had a metal pipe in her hand, which protruded from her sweatshirt sleeve, and she was also seen resting her arm on the counter during the incident.

Officials said the Sheriff’s Office posted pictures from the robbery on its Facebook page and received a tip about the woman’s identity. Within an hour of receiving the information, officials said, an investigator and a deputy found Medlin and her car at a laundromat on Arch Street and arrested her.

Authorities said Medlin was wearing the same clothes that she was seen wearing in the convenience store surveillance video.

Medlin has been booked into the Lancaster County Detention Center, officials said.
