Deputy recovers after being shot in standoff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina deputy is at Carolinas Medical Center Tuesday night after he was shot during a standoff.
 
Officials said 49-year-old Kevin Marks shot the Rutherford County deputy Monday night.
 
Dispatchers were told that Marks had a shotgun and was threatening someone inside a Forest City home.
 
The sheriff said Marks opened fire when deputies tried to go into the home.
